Well this was a crazy night in College Hoops for sure. Louisville blowing a tremendous lead over Duke and losing out on what possibly could've moved them up to the 3 line, but instead tumble down the bracket (thanks to an LSU win at Kentucky, which was also a crazy game) to a #5 seed. As previously mentioned LSU knocked off Kentucky at home which kept Kentucky (#5 overall at the beginning of the day) at #5 overall, surpassing Michigan who lost to a horrid Penn State team, but getting leapfrogged by Gonzaga who now finds themselves back at a #1 seed. Michigan ends up falling from my overall #4 seed, clear down to #8 overall, getting surpassed by conference rival Michigan State. Purdue fell from the 2-line with a loss on the road to Maryland, who in turn is now my Top 6 seed (#21 overall). Replacing Purdue at on the 2-line is a team that's been on this line several times this year, Michigan State. Had Wisconsin won they would've hopped to a 4 seed and surpassed one-loss Nevada, who in my honest opinion has not been playing as strong as their record suggests. Staying on the top half of the bracket, Kansas State picked up another solid road win against Texas and continues to instill fear into the Jayhawks and their 14-year Big 12 title streak.
I'd have to drop down to the #9 line before anymore movement happens, with St. John's defeating Butler. St. John's is inching themselves closer away from the bubble hell that ensues blow them. Butler moves farther down the Next Four Out totem pole, almost losing out entirely. Alabama slides down the bracket from a #10 to a #11 seed, allowing for Wofford to finally crack a #10 seed. Definitely can see Wofford getting into the single digits this week. With more bubble turmoil and more fringe teams (Alabama, Texas, Butler) all losing today, it definitely allows for even more bubble hysteria this time of year.
Tomorrow we got a lot more action, mostly towards the bottom of the bubble, where teams like Georgetown and South Florida can throw their names into the basket with road wins against Seton Hall & UCF respectively. All of the AP Top 25 teams tomorrow are in easy, should win games. But we also have two high-end bubble watch matchup with Syracuse vs NC State and Ole Miss vs Auburn.
See you all tomorrow!
